We invite interested authors to first submit a brief paper proposal for approval by our editorial review team. Once approved, authors will be invited to share their full article. For guidance on what to include in a proposal, please see the requirements outlined on our submission page.
Authors should remove all identifying information from the text of their proposal or article as well as from headers or footers. Any personal references in the body or footnotes that may reveal your identity to reviewers should be avoided.
We kindly request a separate cover letter with the author’s full name, the proposal or article title, affiliation, contact information (mailing and email address), and a short biography. If available, please also provide contact information for up to three independent and active scholars qualified to evaluate your contribution and serve as potential blind peer reviewers. By this we mean those who are not involved in the article's production or aware of the contribution and are post-doctorate and preferably senior scholars in disciplines related to the submission.
Please note: Due to the volume of submissions we receive and the thoroughness of our process, it may be some time before you hear back from us regarding the status of your submission.
Peer-Review Process
All accepted articles undergo a rigorous, double-blind, peer-review process. Papers are anonymized while under review, and at least two reviews are administered per manuscript. A third review may be required if either of the two reviews is incomplete, or the first two reviews differ significantly. Reviewers are provided a detailed rubric assessing key areas such as the article's alignment with Yaqeen's mission, goals and scope of orthodoxy, analytical rigor, academic integrity, literature engagement, style and organization, and overall accessibility.
Yaqeen's editorial process includes:
An initial screening of the submitted manuscript
Editors assign scholars with the right expertise for blind reviews
Manuscript reviewed by peer reviewers according to Yaqeen's reviewer guidelines
Reviewers provide a recommendation to accept, revise, or reject the manuscript
Editors share the reviewer feedback and request revisions
Author implements recommended changes and returns revised copy to Editors
Editors make a final decision to approve the article for publication or reject it
Once article moves forward for publication, copyediting and creative processes begin
Formatting
Yaqeen publications are copyedited and proofread by our editorial support team. Manuscripts must adhere to Chicago Style for footnotes and follow the Library of Congress conventions for Arabic transliteration. For more details on how to prepare your article for submission, please see our formatting guidelines.
